Citizen’s Charter

Citizen's Charter outlines the service commitment of the organization or service providers towards providing quality, high-standard services, including mechanisms for grievance redressal.

Company’s Service:

All services related to non-life insurance are under the provision and directive of our regulatory body Nepal Insurance Authority.

Applicable Laws & Actions:

  • Company Act, 2063
  • Insurance Act, 2079
  • Corporate governance Directive, 2075
  • Other rules & regulations and guidelines including all the circulars circulated by the regulatory body for non-life insurance companies

Documents Required:

It is mandatory to fill up the proposal and KYC forms properly with the attachment of photos and a copy of citizenship or passport for all types of insurance.

  • For Vehicle Insurance: Copy of Blue Book, Renewal notice sent from the previous insurance company (for no claim discount).
  • For Property Insurance: Land Ownership certificate (Lalpurja), Nakshaa Pass, Photo of Property to be insured, copies of PAN/VAT registration, company registration for corporate organization.
  • For Marine Insurance: Letter of Credit (L/C), Invoice, Performa invoice
  • For Agriculture Insurance: Certificate of vaccination for animals
  • For Contractor All Risk: Contract Documents, Bill of Quantity (BOQ)
  • Other Insurance: As per requirement

Processing Time:

If all the required documents are complete by the consumer; we verify it and we can issue a policy within an hour otherwise in one working day.

Service Fee:

As per directive of Nepal Insurance Authority for property, vehicle, marine, travel medical insurance, agriculture & micro insurance; further for other insurance as per rate estimated by underwriting and reinsurance department including stamp duty and value added tax (VAT).

Renewal Notice:

Renewal notice is sent to the concern one month prior before the policy is expired.

Where to Claim:

Claim intimation should be done via mail to or can be informed by telephone numbers 4246101/4246102 of Head Office. Either the claim should be intimated in respective branches of Shikhar Insurance Company Limited. The branch network including mail ID and contact numbers are uploaded on our website.

Claim Procedure & time taken

Once the intimation is complete, the following steps will be carried out by the claim department for claim settlement:

  • Fill up the related claim form as assigned by the claim department
  • Submit the claim form with supporting pictures of the incident that happened
  • Surveyor deputation if required for loss assessment
  • Provide necessary documents as suggested by the claim department
  • Discharge Voucher should be sent on to the clammiest
  • After signing DV; collect the cheque within 3 days

The claim should be settled within 15 days once receiving the surveyor report and other necessary documents.
